Special Release ARAMA e-News Bulletin

CEO Message

Dear Valued ARAMA Member,

What a difference a week makes !
This week is better than last week and next month will be better than this month.
What we need now is for Government to get out of the way and let us get our businesses back on track. The most significant change will be the reopening of State borders by June 26 and this is now our main focus with the Queensland Government. Business generally is still hamstrung by various restrictive COVID-19 practices and we call on all Governments to remove all restrictions and get us back to where we were in February in relation to domestic travel and then gradually re-open our International borders as soon as it is safe to do so.
We get it - the virus is not dead yet and it may never be - this is the new normal ….. and as Australians we have definitely flattened the curve. Now we need to be careful not to flatten the economy in the process.
I am doing my bit for the economy now and those of us lucky to still have a job should spend up big ASAP and spread the love. We`ve eaten out multiple times each week since the restaurants have begun accepting guests again and I have never been so happy to buy a meal. Now its time to take a break and spread the love to our fabulous tourist accommodation properties. Go to the ARAMA Accommodation Directory (AAD) to search direct to our members websites for some fantastic deals.
I`m planning on getting my hair braided while I’m on holidays and I might even get a tattoo  to celebrate !
Have a great week, you deserve it.

Trevor Rawnsley CEO

Online Form to Report COVID-19 Breaches

Queensland Police Service has announced that even as the lockdown measures are being relaxed they will continue to educate and show compassion when dealing with the public, however, they will continue to take enforcement action if necessary to ensure we are all limiting the spread of the virus.

The online form can be used by the general public to report any blatant breach of the Chief Health Officer’s public health directions. “This includes large gatherings such as apartment parties and activities where people are obviously ignoring social-distancing rules.”
